I bought a new Lumix camera last year - a GH7. This was an upgrade to all the previous Lumix's I had (3) and I bought it to do serious video as well as still photography work. My rational with sticking with Lumix is that I had a lot of good lenses to use with it and so that's what I did.
The new model uses a different kind of storage device - a CFexpress card - in addition to a standard SD. The CF's are bigger and more expensive but support much faster write speeds, which is what you need for the advanced video features. So, that cost went into the equation for the upgrade.
Fast forward to today and I'm astonished at how much memory card prices have gone up. It's so much so that I probably would have reconsidered the upgrade. My previous G9 was doing the job, after all...and in some ways, better than the new model.
Live and learn.
But, the price increases...really? The CFexpress card I bought was just over $100 and now the same card goes for over $400.
It can't all be tariffs, can it? Ugh.
